Swim: The first swim starts around 11:00am however please check the Swim Waves section for the precise wave start time each year. Run: The first run wave starts at 8:30am.
Swim: 1.2km open water swim from the Lorne Pier to the beach. Depending on the day and the tide the distance can be slightly longer than this. You should be able to confidently swim 1500m in a pool. Run: The run is 8kms.
The Powercor Lorne Pier to Pub swim attracts swimmers from all ages and from all levels including recreational and professional. You will need to complete the swim in reasonable time, less than 40 minutes. Swimmers who take too long may be removed from the water for their own safety. .Run : The Powercor Lorne Mountain to Surf run is for competitors of all fitness levels. Some walk the course but you should be able to cover the 8km course in under 2 hours. Those taking too long and are on the Great Ocean Road will be required to board our event bus for the final portion of the course due to road safety requirements.
$80.00 all age groups. Covers both a Lorne swim and a virtual swim.
A wetsuit is not essential, however many participants choose to wear one for warmth and comfort. We strongly recommend that you wear a wetsuit. Wetsuits will be available to hire on the day through Arena.
Results will be available on the surfclub's website later in the day of the race.

Swim: 10 min 30 seconds. Run: 22 min 58 seconds.
You should exercise regularly in whichever event you intend to compete in and seek your own medical advice if you have any concerns, particularly if you have not done any exercise in a while or experienced these conditions (ocean swimming or cross country running as relevant).
Boats cannot come close to the competitors. Maritime Safety Victoria has clear rules issued as part of our race permit to ensure the safety of competitors, there is a boating exclusion zone for the event from 7:30am to 5pm from the pier to the beach and 500m from the shore along this distance. Event Rescue craft will be monitoring the exclusion zone.

We record a time for the virtual events but not a place.
Present to Troubleshooting on the Thursday prior to the race between 4 and 6pm or on the Friday morning from 7am The cost of a replacement bib is $15
At the event, present to troubleshooting next to the T-shirt/Registration Marquee. If you are not at the event, send an email to swim@lornesurfclub.com.au with the details (NB there are no refunds).
No one comes to the event planning on going home in an Ambulance. We certainly hope it doesn't happen. If you do need medical evacuation then Ambulance Cover will manage the cost. See https://www.ambulance.vic.gov.au/membership/
Unfortunately we cannot place you in a later wave. Please allow the correct amount of time to arrive in Lorne and register prior to 11am
Swim - THERE IS NO CHANGING OF WAVE TIMES OUTSIDE OF YOUR DESIGNATED AGE GROUP. If you choose to swim with friends, we have a wave called “Same time swim” which you can enter at time of registration.
Swim - event t-shirt, swim cap and returnable timing anklet for use in the event. Run - event t-shirt and race bib with integrated disposable timing chip.
