Life Saving Patrols

Our volunteer lifesavers patrol the Lorne beach on Saturday afternoons, Sundays and Public holidays throughout Summer – usually from the last weekend in November through to Easter.

Life Saving Victoria provides a professional lifeguard service on Saturday mornings and weekdays from late November to late January.

Please swim between the Red and Yellow flags when the beach is patrolled.  It is best to talk to the life savers regarding conditions and if you have any questions or concerns.

International visitors may not be aware of the risks of swimming in the ocean and surf so if you are a visitor please talk to a life saver before swimming to understand where to swim most safely.

Latest Surf Conditions and Forecasts

Check out Swellnet’s Torquay forecast for the best local surf report.  Lorne is usually more protected and the waves are typically smaller (unless the wind is from the SE or East, in which case the beach is significantly more dangerous than usual)
