Due to Covid-19, we expect ongoing mass gathering restrictions in Victoria into 2021, and so we are unable to safely plan for the running of our events in early 2021.
Beyond the concerns around colder water and poor weather, our events are run and staffed by volunteers who are only available during the summer peak season so we are unable to delay our event to later in 2021.
A virtual event is where competitors complete the set distance (1.2km swim or 8km run) at any location and then lodge a valid time electronically.
Same as for 2020. A registration link will be on our website and in the newsletter just prior to registration opening on November 2, 2020.
Registrations open November 2, 2020 and will close on January 14, 2021 or earlier if sold out.

There will be no official placegetters for the Powercor Lorne 2021 Virtual Events, just bragging rights with your fellow competitors. This is due to the inability of competitors to fairly replicate the uniqueness of our Lorne Swim and Run event courses. Compete to stay fit, have fun, and support our volunteer lifesavers.
Keep fit, have fun and encourage others to enter and compete virtually; Train and compete safely and be Covid-19 safe as it is at your own risk; Valid time entries are required for results recognition into our systems; Refer to the event website for training and general medical advice and refer to your own doctor for specific medical advice; Follow all road rules (runners) and never swim alone (swimmers); No swimming aids allowed; Age restrictions for the swim are a minimum of 12yrs old as at 9th January 2021.
We love our Lorne events, the township, its businesses and local community. Our event courses cover some spectacular Lorne areas and as much as we want you to share in this, we have to be Covid-19 safe. Due to Covid-19 health restrictions we DO NOT encourage people to travel to Lorne for any group swims/runs. The event courses are publicly available but not specifically identified, nor are they supported or supervised. Please be mindful of Covid-19 restrictions and health requirements for yourself, and the area you are training or competing in. If you are in Lorne, note that there is no event traffic control, water safety, first aid provisions, or other normal event support at any time at Lorne in the lead up to or during the 2021 Virtual events. All competitors are encouraged to undertake their training and event swim/run safely at a location of their choice, whether pool/open water venue or track/street course.
All 2020 placegetters will be emailed a free entry coupon for 2022 based on their 2020 entry details. If they choose to use this for the 2021 virtual events, they may do so at the expense of the 2022 free entry.
Categories are based on the ages as of our pre-covid event dates. Saturday Jan. 9th 2021 for the swim and Friday Jan. 8th 2021 for the run.
