Lorne Mower October 2023
It’s back… The Mower – October 2023
Get ready summer is coming
Welcome to the first Mower in quite some time. Usually at this point of the Mower there would be a message from the President. But there have been a couple of changes recently with the Executive Committee, so thought this was the perfect opportunity to introduce the team, to make sure everyone is keeping up with the news.
The committee give up their time to work hard to deliver for the club so this is an opportunity to acknowledge all that they do. They are available if you want to chat or share your thoughts.
The President – Heath Armstrong
Treasurer – Stephen Longley
Secretary – Jo Pincus
Club Captain – Nick Murnane
Vice President Training – Lucas Karlson
Vice President Membership, Leadership and Development – Jess Sincock
Vice President Major Events – John Takac
Vice President Competition – Brent Enticott
Vice President Youth- Kirilee Wilson
Vice President House – Jenny Aschhoff
Club Administrator – Alice Van Deuren
Special mention to Mali Romais, who has stepped up to take on the position of Chief Instructor. Love your work Mali. ?
The Executive Committee is supported by a strong general committee covering a range of club areas from lifesaving operations, competitions and admin support such as grants and IT.
A huge thankyou to all members of the committee, without them the club would not be able to operate.

Is your Working With Children Check (WWCC) up-to-date??
All members 18 years and over must have a valid WWCC. Is your Check up-to-date?
Make sure it is valid for the coming season. You can renew your Check online from six months before its expiry date until three months after it has expired. If you are a new member and have an existing Check you simply need to add Lorne SLSC as another volunteer organisation. Remember, the Check for volunteers is at no cost.
Need more information, check out this article from LSV.
To check on your Check or if you need to get one in place for this season, go to https://service.vic.gov.au/services/working-with-children
Thanks, Alice admin@lornesurfclub.com.au
Are you an active member and want to swim the P2P?
The Pier to Pub committee has been working super hard and the event is only a few day away from entries opening.
If you are an active member and you want to swim you need to meet a few criteria and apply to the Club Captain before 24 November. Please read this document for all the details that you need to know.
cheers, Nick captain@lornesurfclub.com.au
Get your requal before the season starts
Hope you are all excited for the 2023/24 season! But before we can kick off, it is crucial and mandatory to complete your Skills Maintenance before patrolling the beach.
This year, Lorne is holding Skills Maintenance sessions on the 18th and 19th of November (and while not confirmed hopefully also on the 29th/30th of December). To complete your requal you
- must be a financial, active member
- log onto https://mt.lsv.com.au/login/ using your SLSA Members Username & Password.
- select one of the available time slots on the 18th/19th of November.
- complete the online theory BEFORE booking into a practical session on the 18th/19th of November.
If you are having trouble check out the tutorial on how to access LSV’s Training Website, enrol in Online Learning, Complete Online Learning and book a practical session.
If you can’t make it to Lorne on 18/19 November you are more than welcome to complete the online learning and book/attend any other available Skills Maintenance Session around the state based on what suits you best.
If you are having any trouble – please feel free to get in touch.
See you on the beach,
Lucas and Mali, training@lornesurfclub.com.au
