The Adult Bronze Course

Adult Bronze is an alternative to Bronze Camp for members looking to gain their Bronze Medallion. The course is designed for those with weekday commitments, with training expected to take place on weekends and weeknights.

The Bronze Medallion enables you to:

  • Patrol the beach
  • Assist with Nipper water safety at Lorne & carnivals
  • Contribute to the core business of the Lorne SLSC – providing a safe swimming environment

Some important information about the Bronze Medallion:

  • Requires a reasonable level of fitness
  • A prerequisite pool swim of 400m in 9 minutes
  • This award must be updated each year at a Skills Maintenance day

The course assessment involves:

  • Attending all training sessions
  • Completing a run swim run in sub 9 minutes (200m, 200m, 200m)
  • Demonstrate 2 rescues
  • Demonstrate patient assessment & CPR
  • Demonstrate general first aid
  • Theory test
