Lorne Mower March 2025
Congratulations – National Medal RecipientsSix Lorne members recognised with an SLSA National MedalSurf Life Saving Australia recognises long standing dedication to life saving with the National Medal. Recipients must have a minimum of 30 hours of patrolling for a minimum of 15 years, so these are people who are delivering a high number of patrol hours consistently.
And a special mention to James Carew, without his hard work these medals would not be awarded. He has done (and continues to do) a mountain of work to gather the required information then submit the application to have members acknowledged. He continues to look through old records to try to get the deserved recognition for our members. So a special thank you to James. Want to know more about the National Medal, can read the full SLSA media release here. Go Team Lorne – Nippers State ChampsThe Nippers State Champs was held recently at Pt Leo and Lorne had a large and successful team in attendance. Congratulations to 2025 Junior State Team; they showed great teamwork and there were amazing performances across all age groups. They came home with three Golds, four Silver, eight Bronze, two 4ths, seven 5ths, and ten 6ths. Special call out to Kirilee and Sharon and the team of age level managers, water safety and other volunteer support. Without your help the team can’t perform. ![]() And meanwhile in Warrnambool…last weekend the big kids were in Warrnambool for Senior States – here are a few pics of the action. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lorne hosts World Ocean SeriesLorne SLSC hosted our First World Ocean Series event on Saturday 8th February with great success. It has come from 2 or more years in planning, and we were blessed with some perfect surf conditions. The 5000 point event was the final part of a 5 carnival southern state series that started in Warrnambool and Torquay in Victoria. With carnivals also in South Australia at Glenelg and Brighton With all the logistics of the carnival under our control it was great to see how the Board and Ski section with the help of lots of Club members banded together to make the running of the carnival a positive experience for all that ventured into the water to race. This would not have been possible without our sponsors on the day who provided some great prizes!! I could name may members who were outstanding on the day but a big thanks goes to Flynn Thompson who ran our water safety team for the carnival and Karl Russell who co ordinated all the race marshalling. cheers, Brent Enticott, VP Competition. ![]() ![]() ![]() Easter is fast approaching and that means end of season celebrations. ![]() Don’t miss the Lorne Sculpture Biennale It’s here, for all of March.
